Getting Help

Financial Counselling

If you are in financial difficulty, the best place to start is with a financial counsellor. Financial counsellors help you manage debt, plan for the future, and let you talk about money problems, big or small, in a safe environment.

Financial counsellors are government funded. You'll never pay to see a financial counsellor. Financial counsellors help with debt, money management and goal setting. They can't sell/advise on any products or investing.

Financial counsellors are LGBTQIA++ friendly, mob friendly and welcome any and all cultural backgrounds.

You can call the National Debt Helpline on 1800 007 007, or chat online at ndh.org.au

Other help

There are specialist services available for small business clients through the Small Business Debt Helpline on 1800 413 828 or sbdh.org.au

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples anywhere in Australia can call and speak to a First Nations financial counsellor through Mob Strong Debt Help on 1800 808 488 for free financial and legal advice.

If you are currently working and can afford your living expenses, but your debts have become unafforable, Way Forward Debt Solutions may be able to help. They are a non-profit organisation that helps people get debt under control through a regular repayment plan. The service is free, like financial counselling.

You can call Way Forward on 1300 045 502 or find out more here.
